Risk Management Credit ProgramBentley Insurance Group (BIG) is pleased to announce continuation of the risk management education and credit program. We have again arranged for Risk Management courses and CME credit hours to be offered through ELM Exchange, Inc. (ELM)* for First Professionals Insurance Company (FPIC) policyholders in Illinois. Consistent with last year, the program allows FPIC insureds to complete three courses per year, totaling 5.25 CME credit hours at NO COST, and receive a 5% discount on their premium. What do I need to do in order to earn my 5% Risk Management credits plus 5.25 CME credit hours? 1. If you registered and completed ELM courses during the 2009-2010 policy period, the following new courses will now be listed in your account. Choose three out of four courses offered. Remember to complete your course work at least 90 days in advance of your insurance renewal to insure an uninterrupted continuation of your premium credit through 2011.- Managing Difficult Patients I - Risk & Safety Issues in <your specialty> - Establishing the Physician-Patient Relationship I - Documentation I 2. If you have not yet registered for or completed ELM courses, the following courses will be listed in your account. Take three out of four courses and successfully complete them at least 90 days prior to your next renewal and you will be eligible for a 5% premium credit on your insurance with FPIC. - Communication: Disclosure I - Risk & Safety Issues in <your specialty> - Informed Consent I - Coding: Fraud & Abuse I 3. To maintain your 5% risk management credit, it is necessary to complete three courses each year. The courses must be completed 90 days prior to the renewal. If you do not complete three CME courses the following year, you will lose the 5% credit. To reinstate the 5% discount, you will be required to fulfill the program’s CME credit standards the following year. Please take ELM courses to maintain your credits, as outlined above. 4. Risk management credits will apply at each renewal. For example, if your policy with FPIC renews on April 1, you will be required to complete any combination of the three courses by January 1. 5. You may also earn up to 5.25 CME credit hours (each course is accredited for up to 1.75 hours of CME) for each year you complete three risk management courses. *ELM Exchange, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. |
